Explain third party fire and theft car insurance
As explained on numerous pages within this website, it is illegal to drive on the UK highways, roads and motorways without having a valid car insurance policy. Even BMWs are not exempt from having a policy or insurance even if it is only basic coverage.
If you are stopped by the police, and you do not have your details to hand, you will be given a producer, for which you have to nominate a Police station you will produce your car insurance details at. This has to be done within seven days. If you do not produce valid car insurance details, and do not attend the named Police station, one of two things will happen. Either a warrant for your arrest will be issued by the court, and you will have a uniformed policeman knocking
on your door to give you a court date, or you will be sent a court date directly through the post.

When you appear before the magistrate, even if you do have a valid third party, third party fire and theft, or fully comp car insurance policy, you will still be fined for failing to produce. You could even have points put on your licence. If you do not have car insurance, the fine will be bigger, you could also expect more points or a driving ban, a community penalty (the new name for community service) could be
considered and in extreme cases, a jail sentence.
You may have got away with driving with no car insurance for a while, but it only takes a random stop, or even a flat tyre for a Police to stop and ask you for your details, and with large fines being handed out to combat non insured drivers, having insurance is not only the correct thing to do, but also the smart thing to do.
Third party fire and theft BMW car insurance
Third party fire and theft (tpft as an acronym) gives you the same third party car insurance as a basic third party policy or cover:
- Liability for injuries to other people, including passengers
- Liability for damage to other people's property
- Liability of passengers for accidents caused by them
- Liability arising from the use of a caravan or trailer, while attached to the car
What you also get as party of the car insurance package is:
- TPFT protection against any fire damage sustained to your car
- TPFT protection against any theft of your car, including breaking and entering and possessions inside the car like stereo etcetera being taken
As the name would suggest, this type of BMW car insurance cover will provide you with protection against any fire damage sustained to your BMW and the theft of your BMW car. It also provides you with BMW car insurance cover if you unwittingly or accidentally cause any type of damage to someone else's car or vehicle. If you are the cause of any accident and it is proved to be, you won't be given any money from your BMW car insurance policy to fix your car. This is the same with ALL third party fire and theft policy cover insurers. If you were hit and the accident was the fault of the other driver or vehicle party to the accident, you'll receive the same treatment as you would under fully comprehensive insurance.
